Calling all Technology Enthusiasts!

MOREnet Annual Conference 2017 - Connecting in the Internet of Everything
There are computer chips in everything- our cars, lights, coffee makers, clothes and buildings. Just about all day, every day we are somehow connected through the Internet. IoE plays a major role in all industries- retail, banking, government and most certainly education.

Internet of Everything has given us richer experiences, simplified aspects of our life, and has allowed unprecedented opportunity for businesses and learning opportunities for students while enabling real-time virtual collaboration opportunities for patrons.

We are now accepting proposals for you to present the concepts you have developed in this vast and fascinating IoE. Tell us what knowledge you have to share - or pass this along to someone whose work you admire.

Proposals will be accepted until Friday, March 31. If you have any questions about your presentation proposal or the form you will be submitting, contact Sandra Monnig, MOREnet's Conference Coordinator at conferences@more.net.

Our Live Streaming Service Makes its Mark in Jefferson City and Social Media

Like most years in the past, we provided the live streaming connection for our Governor's State of the State address. This year, however, we were asked to deliver this content to another, newer platform - social media via Facebook Live.

We had 1,385 unique connections on our server from the traditional live streaming, and the one stream we provided to Facebook Live, distributed by the Governor's office, was reported to have 2,200 connections- more than doubling our efforts to get content out to Missourians.

This is just one example of how our live streaming service, available to you as a member, can boost your viewership and help you get your message out!

To see a recording of the State of the State address click here.  For more information about how you can live stream with us, visit our webpage.

Upgrading your Bandwidth - E-rate Guidelines

We are glad to seek E-rate discounts on Internet access and other services on behalf of our eligible MOREnet members. The Universal Service Fund for Schools and Libraries, also known as the E-rate Program, has traditionally provided discounts on telecommunication services, Internet access and internal connections for all public and private schools and libraries. E-rate provides discounts of 20-90 percent on the cost of eligible services. Discounts are based on the number of students eligible for the National Free and Reduced Lunch Program and the location of the organization (rural or urban).

If you anticipate an upgrade in bandwidth needs within the next year, let your Member Service Advisor know to ensure we file for the accurate amount of E-rate on your behalf!

Makerspace Training in your Public Library

You don't have to be a programmer or have a room full of equipment to be able to offer maker opportunities to your community!

Makerspaces allow patrons to create, invent and learn utilizing coding, 3D printing and robotics. This interactive session will show you how to use a 3D printer to develop models to enhance a presentation or research, how to introduce the concepts of computer programming to the children in your community and demonstrate the possibilities of a simple robotics program. Whether the goal of your library is to nurture early learners, attract the teen community or to enable lifelong learners to have a hands-on experience with the latest technology, this workshop will benefit you!

There will also be time at the end for the attendees to learn about the Makerspace activities at the local host library, where applicable, and to discuss ideas and possibilities for your libraries own Makerspace.

Limit of two people per library until registration is opened up one week before the training. To register visit our training schedule and pick the date and location that best fits your calendar.
