Automated Moving Target Defense (AMTD)

The static nature of most systems provide attackers with an advantage for finding vulnerabilities and launching attacks. To counter this threat, emerging technologies to develop a changing and moving target will assist with thwarting the activities of the cyber criminals.

A moving target defense (MTD) strategy involves a methodology to change the attack surface of data, computers and networks. This is accomplished using randomization and adaptation so that it makes it more difficult for the attacker to be successful. Other end point protection systems rely on patterns and fixed processes. When MTD is involved, it makes the attack more complicated and costly.

By automating this process through AMTD, a higher level of protection can be attained through the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning. There is a real-time response to cyber threats. By constantly changing the attack surface of possible targets through cyber deception, the cybersecurity posture of an organization is greater fortified.

Adding MTD/AMTD for endpoint security, identity and access management, and network infrastructure will increase cybersecurity defenses and make an organization’s resilience more potent.
